Community College Scholarships

Snead State Community College Workforce Training
Some individuals can receive free training to start a new career. If you qualified for such training you could take one of the healthcare training tracks at Snead State Community College. Workforce development is intended to help you if you have been laid off from your job or are unable to find employment in your current career area through no fault of your own. Vocational High School Training

The Montgomery Job Corps Centre offers free vocational training programs which are administered by the US Department of Labour. FAFSA – Financial Aid
Most of the colleges in your state would offer financial aid to students enrolled in a program in that college depending on their set criteria. You should always ask for their financial aid office to get more information. The most important process of applying for financial aid is filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Mind you, it is not easy to fill out the FAFSA forms. So ensure you take a couple of hours of uninterrupted time to fill it out properly. Some of the questions might sound intrusive but it is necessary that you answer them appropriately inorder to qualify for financial aid.
Allied Health Scholarships
As for most allied health care programs, you would need to attend a two year college or post secondary education institution. If you are enrolled in any such institution and can demonstrate academic excellence in your field, you may want to try applying for the Academic Scholarship Program offered by The Alabama Commission on Higher education. The awards are based on demonstrated Academic merit and may be renewed if academic excellence is maintained. Sometimes people in various medical professions can receive forgiveness of any outstanding student loans if they work in areas where there is a large need for these professionals. For instance, the Alabama Board of Medical Scholarship can help Alabama medical students to receive loan forgiveness after they become a doctor if they work in a disadvantage town or city in Alabama. The doctor will need to receive approval for the hospital where he or she will work.
Grants
There are often medical specific grants at various colleges in Alabama for which students can apply. The Bioloxi Regional Medical Center Grant is an example. The grant can pay up to $1800 for three semesters for students of nursing at the University of South Alabama.
